Upper Glen Dam
Upper Glen Dam
See also NS4760 : Upper Glen Dam: northeastern corner. At present, this is called the Upper Glen Dam, and the adjacent one is called the Lower Glen Dam. Those names are used on OS maps from the 1890s onwards.

That was not true of the first-edition OS map (surveyed in 1858), on which this one was called the Glen Burn Reservoir, and the adjacent one was simply labelled "Reservoir". Those names were acceptable at the time, but they presumably had to be changed to avoid confusion when the (quite separate) Glenburn Reservoir, some distance to the south of here, was created. The Glenburn Reservoir is shown on maps from the 1890s onwards, and still exists: Link
