Information Board at Warburg Nature Reserve (1)
This information board on the edge of Soundess Wood has been erected by the Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire Wildlife Trust. It has the following wording:

Warburg

Left hand side
Welcome to the Trust's premier nature reserve. In this secluded valley high in the Chilterns you will find a mosaic of habitats from birch, conifer and beech woodlands to chalk grassland and scrub. From dawn to dusk the air is filled with the songs of countless birds, from tiny warblers to tawny owls. Orchids abound here, including fly and bird's nest orchids and helleborines in the woodland, and pyramidal and butterfly-orchids in the grassland.
In spring the woods are awash with bluebells. Violets, bugle and cowslips adorn the grassy fringes and woodcock perform their territorial flights. Abundant wild flowers including aromatic marjoram and thyme, gentians and orchids, beautify the grassland in summer. Myriad insects are on the wing and lizards bask in the sun. From a turf-roofed hide you can watch dragonflies swooping over the ponds, while red kites soar overhead.
In autumn over 900 species of fungi are here to discover. The valley is a frost pocket that makes winter morning walks a magical experience. At this time of year deer can be spotted amongst the trees as they browse amidst the sparkling scene.
The middle of the board shows a map of the nature reserve with photos around it Musk mallow, a dormouse and silver-washed fritillary.
Below that map is the following wording:

Management
Woodland
. Felling to maintain wide-rides - sheltered sunny corridors favoured by
plants and insects
. Non-intervention allowing progress towards ancient woodland
Scrub
. Rotational cutting to simulate natural wood edge structure adjacent
grassland
Chalk grassland
. Grazing from autumn to early spring to maintain low soil fertility
. Removing scrub to prevent succession to woodland

At the bottom of the board is the wording:
