Weeping plane showing graft, Chester Square
Weeping plane showing graft, Chester Square
This rare tree is part of the original 1828 to 1840 planting of the garden. The change in bark texture 1.5 metres up the trunk is the graft, at the height often used in tree nurseries in the 19th century. Photo when the square was part of Open Garden Squares Weekend
Open Garden Squares Weekend, London
On a weekend in June each year over 200 garden squares and other gardens are open to the public. The event is organised by London Parks and Gardens Trust.
