Model Hawker Hurricane at Peterborough Cathedral for Armed Forces Day
Model Hawker Hurricane at Peterborough Cathedral for Armed Forces Day
This highly detailed model of a Hawker Hurricane fighter aircraft was on display in the grounds of Peterborough Cathedral to mark Armed Forces Day in June 2019. The non-flying model, which can be easily dismantled and reassembled, is employed as a teaching aid during school visits to educate pupils not only about the history of the Second World War but also about science and mechanics.
A total of 14,583 Hurricanes were built by Hawker Aircraft Ltd. between 1937 and 1944 mainly for use by the Royal Air Force (RAF) and the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF).
