ST2885 : Citrus Celebrations (5), Tredegar House Gardens
taken 5 years ago, near to Duffryn, Newport/Casnewydd, Wales
During June and July 2019, the National Trust held a celebration of all things citrus to reflect the opulence of the Morgan’s of Tredegar. In addition to being centred on the Orangery with craft workshops, the predominant colours of the summer planting in the gardens were orange and yellow.
The Orangery building was constructed in around 1710. The word “Orangery” was also used to describe the area of the garden in which orange trees were displayed in the summer. The Orangery building itself could also be used for other purposes , such as a place for entertainment and refreshment, once emptied of its pots. This is what is done here today.
