Ralph Fold Well 2019
The well dressing outside Gee Cross Methodist Church depicts a stained-glass window of angel SJ9593 : An Angel Among Us.
"In the Bible, angels bring messages from or about God. Mary's story is perhaps the best known; the angel Gabriel told her he was to have a baby who would be God's son. But not everyone is aware of it at the time. But there are other stories involving angels too.
Hebrews 13:2
"Do not neglect to show hospitality to
strangers, for by doing that some have
entertained angels without knowing it."
If we could have made a 'real' stained glass window we would have made the angel out of clear glass so that we could look right through at the world or into church.
Are there angels among us? Look into the face of our angel. What do you see? An angel? Perhaps you see what an angel might see?"

Gee Cross Well Dressing
Although well-dressing is a custom mostly confined to Derbyshire, it can be seen in adjacent counties too. Well dressing celebrations were held regularly in Gee Cross from the 1820s until 1878. The custom was revived by the local Women's Institute in 2000. The Well Dressing Ceremony was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but was revived in 2022.
