NY6121 : Dangerous ford!
taken 6 years ago, near to King's Meaburn, Cumbria, England

Dangerous ford!
In October 2018 I took and submitted a photo similar to this, and also one of the warning notices 250 yards behind (in NY6221. It was a gloomy day, and both were blurred and (rightly) rejected. So in June 2019 I returned on a much brighter day, hoping for better luck. I visited the ford again, but hasten to add that I walked down the hill - just as well, there is no turning space here.
There seem to be several fords along this stretch of the River Lyvennet which are closed because in a dangerous condition.
The concrete roadway was washed away by floods a few years ago. I certainly would not risk it now in a normal car.
The footbridge to the right is still open. To reach it you seem to have to go through a cottage garden, but the owners were quite happy for me to use it. It was not clear whether it was a Right of Way - I think (as so often) they were just happy to be asked.
