A slime mould - Arcyria denudata
A slime mould - Arcyria denudata
This is a common species. These stalked sporangia (spore-producing structures) were in Renton Wood.

Some past rain and ongoing hot weather made for warm, humid conditions that seem to have favoured the development of slime moulds.
