Concert Glen
Concert Glen
The Concert Glen, in Glen Park, is now so overgrown that a view over it, rather than through it, best reveals its form. It is named on OS maps from 1895 onwards. It is not so called on the first-edition map (1860), because the first of the annual Tannahill Concerts that were held here, and which would give the glen its name, took place in 1876.

The funds raised by these concerts would allow a statue (NS4864 : Tannahill) to be erected to the memory of the poet Robert Tannahill (see NS4763 : Robert Tannahill's Cottage for biographical details, and Link for related pictures).
