Montgomery Town Hall and Broad Street
The rather grand building in the distance is the town hall of Montgomery, which was built in 1748 by William Baker of Audlem as a market and town hall, with another storey being added on top 80 years later by Thomas Penson for Lord Clive. The clock tower was added on top of this building in 1921, and the clock inside still functions.
During the time when Montgomery became the county town of Montgomeryshire, this building became so important that more additions were being made. The Montgomery Town Council currently owns this building, but Montgomery is no longer the county town of Montgomeryshire and is a quiet town by today.
The town hall stands between Broad Street, Arthur Street and Kerry Street. The view here is looking towards the town hall with the buildings of Broad Street seen to either side; bunting completes the shot.
