Contrasting styles on Mosley Street
Buildings from two different eras on Mosley Street in Newcastle city centre. The white painted one in the centre is a rare survivor from the original street built in 1785, although much modified in the C19. In the later C19, the street became a centre for the city's financial institutions and most of it was rebuilt in grand Victorian style. The building on the right, which is No 1 on the street, is a typical example, built in 1899 to a design by Benjamin Simpson.
