The Bladebone (2) - sign, Chapel Row, near Bucklebury, Berks
An unusual and almost certainly unique pub sign. The name was given in 1666 when the ‘Bladebone’ of a mammoth was sealed within copper and hung above the door. Whether, after over 350 years, this is still the original sign probably nobody knows.
