Walled garden, Gibside
The walled garden dates back to the 1730s when it was a thriving concern, with fruit trees, glass houses and even exotic produce including melons and pineapples.

It had become derelict and overgrown when it was acquired by the National Trust in the early 1990s, and was used as an overspill car park.

The garden was restored to its former glory in 2015 with additional money from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
