St Lawrence, Crosby Ravensworth: Last Supper
St Lawrence, Crosby Ravensworth: Last Supper
This oak carving forms part of the reredos NY6214 : St Lawrence, Crosby Ravensworth: altar and has a remarkable origin, having been carved by young woodworking pupils taught by the vicar's wife in 1897.
St Lawrence, Crosby Ravensworth

The parish church dates from c.1200 with a 15th century tower, but was largely rebuilt in the early 19th century by William Dent, and again from 1867–87 by Manchester architect Joseph Crowther. However the nave, south doorway with typical Norman carving, and three of the four arches of the central crossing, are original 12th century, and it is Grade I listed (list entry 1311870).
