Erratic boulders and beach platform
Erratic boulders and beach platform
Flat-lying sandstone of the Stainmore Formation forms the beach platform, which is overlain by a thick accumulation of glacial till forming the cliff in the background. Eroded out of the till by the encroaching sea are a number of large and highly recognisable erratic boulders of microgabbro. The contrast in the rock-types on view is striking, and seldom so well marked.
