Wood End Lock is No 20 on the Trent and Mersey Canal and provides a rise of 5ft 2in (about 16 metres). Filling has become quicker recently following repair work on the top end ground paddle culvert. Bridge No 53 is a former accommodation bridge which no longer leads into the fields to the east.
