River Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne
River Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne
Deep low pressure conditions have brought persistent heavy rain across north-east England creating a somewhat gloomy scene looking from the High Level Bridge. In the foreground is the swing bridge which was opened in 1876; at the time it was the largest swing bridge ever built. Beyond that is the iconic Tyne Bridge opened in 1928 by King George V.
