Bowood House
Bowood House is the home of the Marquess of Lansdowne. The house remaining today is large but the 'Big House' was demolished in the mid-1950s. The lawn in the foreground is the site of the main house which was demolished. In one of the rooms in the house which remains Joseph Priestley discovered oxygen in 1774.
