Cake storage and CHP, Allanfearn WWTW
The white container on the right is the combined heat and power plant (CHP). Biogas created during the sludge treatment is used to generate electricity, providing 75% of the energy used on site.
Allanfearn Wastewater Treatment Works
Allanfearn treats the wastewater from Inverness, Culloden, and North Kessock, over 47,000 people. On average it receives flows of over 250 litres per second. It also has sludge brought in from other sites, including Fort William.
Allanfearn is operated by Veolia, on behalf of Scottish Water.
