The Bodega public house, Westgate Road
This pub was formerly the Black Bull, dating from 1872. This was a rebuilding of the original Black Bull, first mentioned in 1822. However, there is some evidence to show that this site, just outside the town walls on the main road west out of Newcastle, has been occupied by a pub since the middle ages. The Neville Inn of 1422 may have been on this spot. View is looking west along Westgate Road.
