A little patch of green in the suburbs
At the junction of Dean Lane and Warden Road is a small piece of grass. It has been adopted by a local organisation - the Patchwork Community Gardening Volunteers. They have helped to turn it from a wasteland into a minor tree plantation.

This area was originally open ground in Paradise Gardens in the late nineteenth century, with Dean Lane lined with houses called Paradise Row. In later years the area was developed into the typical terraces of around 1900; Warden Road was based on the path in the gardens. But in the late 1970s, some of the old houses were demolished - leaving this patch of green.
