This is three bays of the five bay building built in the early 19th century. The two shops nearest the camera (numbers 62 and 64) have original wooden shopfronts. Barclays Bank occupy the two bays furthest from the camera - see SD6178 : Kirkby Lonsdale buildings [47]. The stonework on the upper floors gleams in the early morning sun. Kirkby Lonsdale is a small town that developed at a crossing of the River Lune. Granted a market charter in 1227, the town at one time had 29 inns and alehouses of which several survive. The town is rich in historic buildings with over 150 listed.
