Installed at the inner courtyard of the museum this, and the adjacent doorway > Link came from 18 Bethel Street, which housed Hubert Alexander Miller's (1880-1952) studio from 1909 onwards. Hubert Miller was a Norwich-born sculptor and memorialist, believed to have studied at the New Cross School of Art in London. The building is long since gone but thanks to the Norwich photographer and historian George Plunkett, who photographed it, the doors can be seen in situ in his photograph dating from 1934: LinkExternal link -
The Strangers' Hall Museum in Norwich

Strangers' Hall is one of the oldest houses in Norwich, with the earliest part of the building dating from the 14th century. For much of its life it was the home of the families of wealthy merchant families and city leaders, but the house was also associated with the families of Dutch immigrants, the so-called Strangers, who settled in the area in the 16th century.

The Great Hall which dates from the 15th century, forms the heart of this large complex of buildings that included stores, service rooms and workshops. More parlours, chambers and new wings were added over time by later owners and today it is a warren of inter-connected rooms, passages and steps. There are also cellars and an undercroft which dates from the 14th century.

Strangers' Hall has been a social history museum since 1899 and is set out as a series of recreated rooms showing how the early owners of the house might have lived. Georgian and Victorian period rooms can also be seen.
