A change of course
The River Malago runs from the slopes of Dundry to the south, through Bedminster and on to the Avon. In its history, the river has had its course shifted on numerous occasions to allow its use for industries that sprang up. Here the Malago turns sharp left and on towards what is now a supermarket; along the banks was the Western Tannery, which was one of a host of heavy industries that would have used a river for many unsavoury uses.
