Castles of Munster: Ballygrennan, Limerick - revisited (1)
The tower dates probably from after 1583 when Ballygrennan was granted to William ffox. Just the south end wall with a wall extending east exists of the house of 1600-20 which had its own back court with a doorway west of the house, and a bawn 20m square to the east.
The large outer bawn was added before 1657 on the north side. The castle was sold to the Evans family in the 1660s.
