Castles of Munster: Glin, Limerick (1)
This tower was once the main seat of the Knights of Glin, a branch of the Munster Geraldines, who held land here for seven centuries, and who later built a new mansion at Glin the present castle, during the 1780s. One of the Geraldines was killed defending the castle against Sir George Carew when it was besieged in 1600.
