Thanks to a chance encounter, I was fortunate in gaining better access to this fortified house previously visited two years ago. Of three storeys and an attic, it was built in 1627 for Richard Boyle, Earl of Cork. Gunloops flank the south and north walls of two wings containing the stairs and the entrance.
