The altar rail was made by Robert Thompson of Kilburn in Yorkshire, whose mouse trademark is carved into the base of the first right-hand newel post.
Mottram Parish Church of St Michael and All Angels

A church has existed on War Hill since at least 1225 but the present Grade II* listed church LinkExternal link was built in the 15th century. It had major restoration carried out in 1855. The tower is 20m high and houses a peel of 8 bells. It is the parish church of Mottram-in-Longdendale and a landmark for several miles around.
