Station Square, Ravenscar
Station Square, Ravenscar
The story of Ravenscar is one of grandiose plans that came to nothing, leaving a few hints of what might have been. The Victorian vision was that Station Square would be at the heart of a seaside town to rival Blackpool with holidaymakers arriving here by train. Hardly any of it was ever built. There was a railway station but that closed in 1965 leaving Station Square with a slightly forlorn end of the road feeling - although a seasonal café operates from the one building here. There is an infrequent bus service from the square to Scarborough.
