Kells Priory enclosure - Kells, County Kilkenny
A view from inside the walled area of Burgess Court at Kells Priory. The Priory was founded in 1193 by Geoffrey FitzRobert, finally dissolved in March 1540 and handed over to James Butler 9th Earl of Ormonde. Archaeological digs on this site have yielded up some 20,000 finds. The monument is freely open to the public and guided tours and other events are organised. For details of these contact staff at Jerpoint Abbey. Time photo taken not available.
