High Street, Market Weighton
Market Weighton is mentioned in the Domesday Book as 'Wicstun' and received a charter to become a market town in 1251. The population has remained small - about 6,500 - but it is one of the main centres in the Yorkshire Wolds. Activity is centred along the High Street. Note the traditional barber's pole on the right and the tower of All Saints' Church visible in the background.
