The Londesborough Arms, Market Weighton
The Londesborough Arms, Market Weighton
The Londesborough Arms dates from the late 18th century when it was built as a coaching inn by the 5th Duke of Devonshire. At the time it was known as the Devonshire Arms (Londesborough was one of the seats of the Dukes of Devonshire). It is said that William Bradley, a native of Market Weighton and the tallest ever British man, was a regular visitor. Today the inn has two bars and accommodation but, strangely, no restaurant.
