Rivers Derwent and Ouse, Barmby Barrage
Rivers Derwent and Ouse, Barmby Barrage
The water in the foreground is the last few yards of the River Derwent before its confluence with the much larger River Ouse. The barrage is designed to exclude tidal water from the Derwent to allow greater extraction for domestic supply. The other side of the control cabin is a lock to allow vessels to use the river.
