Column, Ker Street, Plymouth
Column, Ker Street, Plymouth
A monumental Greek Doric column, one of only three of John Foulston's civic buildings to have survived. Dating from 1821-24, "they deserve to be cherished, for they are among the most remarkable of their date". It is unfortunate therefore that they now stand "pathetically isolated amid drab post-war reconstruction". Grade I listed.
Beyond is Tamar House, one of three 1963 point blocks by Wakeford, Jerram & Harris.
