Former theatre, Union Street, Plymouth
Former theatre, Union Street, Plymouth
This area of the city has some good buildings but is in a parlous state. The former Great Western Hotel and Palace Theatre is one of the city's best and yet has been on the danger list for years. Built in 1898 by Wimperis & Arber and lusciously smeared in stone, terracotta, maiolica, and copiously ornamented (SX4654 : Detail of former theatre, Union Street, Plymouth). Grade II* listed.
It's been empty since c2006.
