The old kirk, Kirkton of Glenbuchat
This remote A-listed (LB9126:
Link ) kirk is well worth the trip for its historical importance; it was built in 1692 and rebuilt ca. 1792. The main south elevation (pictured) features central windows either side of the pulpit, which is still in place between them inside and reflects reformed worship at the time. The left-hand door is thought to be for the minister with the congregation entering by the right-hand door. The church was unfortunately locked when I visited but the inside is almost in original late 18th Century condition with box pews, primitive woodwork and dirt floors. Services occasionally take place.
