This is Lock Number 1 on the navigable reach of the River Cam, viewed looking upstream. It was built in 1836 and is the only lock in the city of Cambridge.

Beyond is the Jesus Green footbridge with its lattice balustrade.

The lock and footbridge together form a joint Grade II Listed structure.
