Duxford Airfield domestic site

Otherwise known as North Camp, the domestic site at Duxford Airfield is an area north of the A505 originally developed in the First World War to provide barracks, married quarters and mess facilities for personnel working on the technical site of the airfield, south of the road. The area was modernised in the 1930s, with a number of buildings having a date plaque of 1933.

Following the purchase of the airfield in 1977 by the Imperial War Museum in conjunction with Cambridgeshire County Council and the Duxford Aviation Society, the area gained a new lease of life, with many of the buildings being used for storage and conservation work for the IWM's collection. In 2019 this was added to by the opening of a specialist paper storage building, the IWM Paper Store. In 2016 the Officer's Mess was refurbished and opened as a business centre containing a number of offices and a café.
