Lancaster Canal, Stainton
Looking "south" from bridge 172. This short section of canal (~250m) has only recently returned to water, following removal of the temporary clay dam seen in SD5285 : Clay dam, Lancaster Canal. This indicates that the repairs to Stainton Aqueduct, which was severely damaged by floodwater in December 2015, are substantially complete. However, the towpath and the public footpath under the aqueduct remain closed for the time being. A temporary fence across the towpath and a crane can be seen in the distance.
