The A458 Bridgnorth By-Pass is on the right. The housing is the southern part of Low Town.
The River Severn is high, flowing rapidly from left to right. Bridgnorth High Town is off to the left.
There had been well above average rainfall in the previous two weeks, and River Severn was expected to rise considerably over the following few days. Flooding was expected.
The River Severn

The River Severn is the longest river in Britain, at about 354 kilometres (220 miles). Its source is on Plynlimon near Llanidloes, Powys, in the Cambrian Mountains. It then flows through Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire. The Severn is the greatest river in terms of water flow in England and Wales.
