Tees Aqueduct
The Tees Aqueduct is a 45m bridge over the River Tees west of Barnard Castle. It was constructed in 1898 by Head Wrightson & Co. Engineers from Thornaby-on-Tess for the Stockto and Middlesbrough Water Board. It carries a major water pipe across the river designed to take water from Upper Teesdale to serve industry and population downstream.
