Geograph - photograph every grid square

The old branch that once carried freight - by which I mean animal carcasses and by products - to and from the Rednal Bone Works, established on this site in 1890 and in operation until around 1950. Aside from a period during the Second World War, when the works were given over to gunpowder production, the bone works took in animal carcasses for boiling down to supply the soap factories at Port Sunlight on the Wirral. Yuk. When I first visited this area in the very early 1990s, I walked off a hangover with a friend's dog and was able to access the basin at the end of the branch; the undergrowth was much less rampant back then and the main line of the canal (behind me in this shot) had not then reopened to navigation.
