Newcastle West, St Mary's Road
Newcastle West (Irish: an Caisleán Nua Thiar) or simply Newcastle is the largest town in County Limerick, excluding Limerick city. It is in the middle of a great bowl-shaped valley known at one time as the valley of the Wild Boar and the town’s crest features the image of a wild boar. The town is on the N21 road from Limerick to Tralee, between Rathkeale and Abbeyfeale and is also on the River Arra which flows into the River Deel.
