Croome Park - Gloster Meteor WD686
The Meteor was Britain's first jet fighter. This example is a two seater night fighter built at Coventry in 1952 for radar testing and based at RAF Defford. On 28th March 1958 it was the last aircraft to leave Defford. It was then based at Bedford and when retired from flying in 1967 was used for apprentice training. It has now come home to Croome and is on open air display adjoining the RAF Museum
