Etruria Industrial Museum - grinding pan
The pans are driven by the steam engine and use chert runner stones running on a bed of chert. A runner stone is seen bottom left. For demonstration purposes the material being ground is waste unglazed pottery. Originally the mill ground bone and China stone for making fine bone china.
