Underground service reservoir -Papplewick
Built in 1879 to the design of Thomas Hawksley and abandoned in 1912 due to cracking in its brick walls. This underground fan vaulted brick masterpiece is now visited as part of the preserved Papplewick Pumping Station. There is a £3 supplement to pay and a tractor and trailer ride to enjoy in order to experience this with a guide. The echoes in here are something else.
