Caldon Canal near Denford in Staffordshire
Caldon Canal near Denford in Staffordshire
Looking north-west. The circa 1841 re-routed Caldon Canal turns north here, then westwards towards the "new" three Hazelhurst Locks. Originally the canal was raised by a staircase of three locks at the edge of Hazelhurst Wood, and the moored narrowboat in this image is where the canal led to the staircase climbing through the trees.
