Butter Market, Barnard Castle
At various times the building has also been the Town Hall, a court room, a lock-up and a fire station. Dated 1747. Built at the expense of Thomas Breaks.
On this site www.barnardcastlelife.co.uk it's called the Market Cross. Very interesting images and text. I thoroughly enjoyed looking around. Cheers, Dave
