Former line of Winchester Bypass, west of St Catherine's Hill, near Winchester
The chalk grassland seen here is on the line of the Winchester Bypass built in the 1930s, and the earlier Didcot, Newbury and Southampton Railway. The road was removed in 1994 after the opening of the M3 extension that carves through Twyford Down to the east of St Catherine's Hill.
