Wright's Court, Off Elm Hill, Norwich
One of the remaining C18th yards in Norwich. In the 1880s Elm Hill had seven 'courts' similar to this one. The 1881 census indicates that five families, comprising fourteen individuals, lived in tiny houses in this courtyard, including: three brushmakers, a labourer, a postman and a retired man of 82 years of age. John Wright, after whom this yard is named, was a textile manufacturer of Elm Hill in the 1830s.
